Steamrunners Slot Review

SlotTribe 250 Spin Test – Date: 22 October 2026 – Result: -16.10 – Bonuses: 1 – Biggest Win: 47x

Overview

Steamrunners is Hacksaw’s November 2025 5×4 slot set in a smoky steampunk world of floating cities, gas-powered gadgets, and rebellious sky pirates. The slot mixes transforming gas canisters, multiplier wilds, and three bonus rounds that escalate the chaos with sticky multipliers and guaranteed wilds. It’s built to feel busy, with lots of small wins and frequent symbol transformations, but the real power sits inside the canister spreads and the sticky multipliers in the higher bonuses.

The theme is strong, the animations are sharp, and the slot tries to keep you engaged with constant movement on the grid. Whether it actually delivers anything meaningful depends entirely on how generous the canisters decide to be.

Mick’s Take

Played OK. Lots of base wins up to around 15x and a 20x and a 28x. Hit the bonus one time on spin 153 after constant teases, which paid a 47x. Nothing amazing, but it didn’t batter me either. One of those slots that keeps you ticking along without ever doing anything wild. Felt like it was always close to doing something bigger, but never actually pulled the trigger.

Gameplay & Features

Green Gas Canisters

Green Gas Canisters transform themselves and adjacent low-paying or wild symbols into wilds. If part of a win, they spread horizontally and vertically, continuing as long as connected symbols allow. This can create wide wild spreads across the grid and is the main source of mid-tier base game hits. When the spread connects properly, the grid can light up fast.

Purple Gas Canisters

Purple Gas Canisters transform themselves and all low-paying and wild symbols into wilds if part of a win. Transformed wilds may gain random multipliers up to 200x, and any wild affected by a gas canister always receives a 2x multiplier. Purple canisters are the more volatile version, capable of turning a small cluster into a decent hit if multipliers stack correctly.

Bonus Games

Steamrunners has three bonus rounds, each with upgraded mechanics.

Sky City

Triggered by landing 3 FS scatters.
Awards 8 free spins with sticky wild multipliers.
This is the entry-level bonus and can produce decent wins if the canisters show up early.

Gaslight District

Triggered by landing 4 FS scatters.
Awards 10 free spins with sticky wild multipliers and a guaranteed wild on every spin.
The guaranteed wild helps build early momentum, but it still relies heavily on canister spreads.

Court of the High Steam

Triggered by landing 5 FS scatters.
Awards 10 free spins and guarantees 1 Gas Canister on every spin.
This is the Hidden Epic Bonus and carries the highest potential. With canisters landing every spin, the grid can fill with multipliers quickly, but reaching this bonus is rare.

Volatility & Behaviour

Steamrunners behaves like a medium volatility slot with bursts of activity. Base wins come often enough to keep the balance moving, but the slot needs canisters to create anything meaningful. Multipliers can spike, but most hits stay in the small-to-mid range. The top bonus is where the real potential sits, though it’s difficult to reach.

Graphics & Sound

Steampunk theme with floating cities, pipes, smoke, and glowing machinery. Animations are smooth, and the gas canister spreads look great. Sound design fits the gritty industrial vibe, giving the slot a consistent atmosphere.

What It Does Well

Wild spreads feel satisfying
Sticky multipliers in bonuses
Three bonus tiers
Strong theme and visuals

What It Does Badly

Gas spreads can fizzle out
Bonus wins often mid-tier
Needs canisters to wake up

Who It’s For

Players who enjoy:

Steampunk themes
Wild-transform mechanics
Medium volatility
Sticky multipliers
Bonus variety

SlotTribe Verdict

Steamrunners played steady in our 250-spin test. Plenty of small base wins, one bonus for 47x, and no major swings. It’s a slot that keeps you afloat without ever really taking off. Decent enough, but it didn’t show any of the big potential Hacksaw likes to hide in its top bonuses. A session that never hurt, never thrilled, and never really got going.

Any decent wins on this one?
