Army of Ares Slot Review
SlotTribe 250 Spin Test – Date: 22 October 2026 – Result: -152.90 – Bonuses: 0 – Biggest Win: 24x
Overview
Army of Ares is Hacksaw’s December 2025 release built around Wrath Reels, additive multipliers, and two very different bonus styles: a traditional free spins mode and a refilling‑lives multiplier builder. It’s a slot with massive potential on paper thanks to multipliers that can reach 300x on Wrath Reels and up to 50x on Battle Horses, but it’s also capable of long dead stretches when nothing lands.
The base game revolves around Wrath scatters expanding into full Wrath Reels, revealing multipliers, and adding wilds to the grid. When multiple Wrath Reels connect in a win, their multipliers add together from left to right. The bonuses build on this, either guaranteeing Wrath Reels every spin or shifting into a full multiplier-building mode with refilling lives.
Our session didn’t see any of that power — just teases, dead spins, and a single 24x win.

Mick’s Take
Horrible session. Constant bonus teases but never hit. Just really poor throughout although it did liven up a bit towards the end. Highest win was a 24x. Nothing else to shout about.

Gameplay & Features
Wrath Reels
Wrath scatters expand into Wrath Reels, covering the entire reel. Once expanded, the Wrath Reel reveals a multiplier that applies to the entire reel. Possible values include:
2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 300x.
If a win includes more than one Wrath Reel, their multipliers add together from left to right before being applied. This is where the slot’s biggest base game potential sits.
A Wrath Reel also adds between 0–5 wilds to random positions on the grid. These wilds substitute for all symbols and help build connections.
Only one Wrath symbol can land per reel at a time.
Bonus Game – Fear and Flame
Triggered by landing 3 FS scatters.
Awards 10 free spins.
This bonus guarantees at least one Wrath Reel on every spin. Wilds added by Wrath Reels land with multiplier values, and if a win includes multiple wild multipliers and a Wrath Reel, all multipliers add together before being applied.
Possible additive multipliers in this mode include:
2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x.
This bonus can go wild if Wrath Reels stack and multipliers line up, but it’s also capable of paying very little if the reels don’t connect.
Bonus Game – Wrath and Ruin
Triggered by landing 4 FS scatters.
Awards 3 refilling lives.
This bonus shifts into a multiplier-building mode. Only dead symbols, Disc Multipliers, and Battle Horses can land. Lives refill to 3 whenever any Disc or Battle Horse lands.
Each reel has a Reel Multiplier above it starting at 1x. Disc Multipliers increase or multiply these Reel Multipliers:
Green Disc symbols add their value to the Reel Multiplier on the reel they land.
Epic Green Discs add their value to all Reel Multipliers.
Possible values: 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x.
Red Disc symbols multiply the Reel Multiplier on the reel they land.
Epic Red Discs multiply all Reel Multipliers.
Possible values: x2, x3, x4, x5, x10.
Battle Horses are collected above the reel they land on. At the end of the bonus, each Battle Horse reveals a multiplier that applies to its corresponding Reel Multiplier.
Possible values: x2, x3, x4, x5, x10, x15, x20, x25, x50.
After all Battle Horses activate, all Reel Multipliers are added together and multiplied by the bet amount to determine the final win.
Hidden Epic Bonus – Ares Ascends
Triggered by landing 5 FS scatters.
Awards 3 refilling lives.
This bonus guarantees a full grid of Disc Multipliers and one Battle Horse from the start. It’s the highest potential mode, capable of building huge Reel Multipliers quickly.
Volatility & Behaviour
Army of Ares behaves like a high-volatility slot:
long dead stretches
bonus extremely hard to hit
Wrath Reels can be huge or worthless
multiplier bonuses can explode
teases often lead nowhere
Our session saw the worst side of it — no bonus, no multipliers, no excitement.
Graphics & Sound
Dark Greek battlefield theme with heavy metal accents, glowing multipliers, and Hacksaw’s usual crisp animations. The Wrath Reel expansion looks great, and the multiplier-building bonus has strong visual feedback.
What It Does Well
Huge multiplier potential
Wrath Reels feel impactful
Refilling-lives bonus is engaging
Three distinct bonus styles
Strong theme and presentation
What It Does Badly
Bonus extremely hard to hit
Base game can be dead
Multipliers often don’t connect
High volatility with long droughts
Teases can be relentless
Who It’s For
Players who enjoy:
High-volatility slots
Multiplier stacking
Refilling-lives mechanics
Greek mythology themes
Chasing massive wins
SlotTribe Verdict
Army of Ares can go absolutely mental when multipliers stack, but our 250-spin test was brutal. No bonus, constant teases, and a highest win of just 24x. It livened up slightly toward the end, but overall it was a dead session with none of the big potential showing up.
Is it really this bad?
