Book of Dead GO Collect Slot Review

Book of Dead GO Collect: SlotTribe 250 Spin Test – Date: 5 October 2026 – Result: +38.50 – Bonuses: 3 – Vault Opens: 2 – Biggest Win: 94x

Overview

Book of Dead GO Collect is Play’n GO’s attempt to bolt modern Hold‑N‑Spin mechanics onto the classic Rich Wilde formula. You still get the familiar Tomb Scatters, expanding symbols, and the nostalgia of the original Book of Dead — but now there’s a GO Collect meter, Gold Staters attached to symbols, and a Treasure Vault feature that adds a second layer of bonus potential.

The slot plays like a hybrid: half classic Book gameplay, half coin‑collect machine. Tomb Scatters still act as both Scatter and Wild, triggering Free Spins with an expanding symbol that pays anywhere. But the base game now has Gold Staters attached to symbols, filling the GO Collect meter and building towards the Treasure Vault. It’s a simple addition, but it gives the base game more movement than the original ever had.

The Treasure Vault is the big new feature — a Hold N Spin chamber where Staters land with x1–x5 values or Bonus Staters carrying Mini, Minor, Major, or Grand tags. It’s a clean, fast bonus, and afterwards you can choose to gamble the total up to four times, risking everything for a double. It’s bold, it’s stupid, and it’s exactly the kind of thing that makes this version feel different.

Our test session was lively: three Free Spins bonuses, two Vault opens, and a very nice 94x hit. It’s still volatile, still capable of throwing Rich at you for a dead bonus, but overall it played better than most Play’n GO 2026 releases.

Mick’s Take

Hit the bonus free spins three times and opened the vault twice. First bonus hit on spin 46 for a 31x. Next up was the vault on spin 112 for a 27x. Bonus hit again on spin 165 for a very nice 94x, and again on spin 182 with Rich as the symbol — and as usual when you get Rich, the bonus is pants, paid a 9x. The vault opened again on spin 189 for a 30x. Decent session overall, but still has that classic Book behaviour where it can go from great to useless in seconds.

Gameplay & Features

Tomb Scatter & Free Spins

The Tomb Scatter acts as both Scatter and Wild:

  • Substitutes for all symbols
  • Pays anywhere
  • Land three or more to trigger 10 Free Spins

One symbol (excluding Scatter) is chosen as the Expanding Symbol. When enough land, it expands to cover its reels and pays regardless of paylines — classic Book mechanics. Free Spins can retrigger up to 80 spins, giving the bonus real top‑end potential.

GO Collect & Gold Staters

Gold Staters can appear attached to any symbol except the Tomb Scatter. When collected, they fill the GO Collect meter. Staters do not appear during Free Spins — the focus there stays on expanding symbol wins.

The meter builds towards the Treasure Vault feature. It’s perceived persistence, but at least it adds movement to the base game.

Treasure Vault (Hold N Spin)

When the Treasure Vault opens, the reels switch to a Hold N Spin chamber:

  • Start with 3 Re-Spins
  • Only Staters land
  • Regular Staters: x1–x5
  • Bonus Staters: Mini, Minor, Major, Grand
  • Any new Stater resets spins to 3
  • When spins run out or the grid fills, all values combine

It’s a clean, fast bonus with decent mid‑range potential.

Treasure Gamble

After the Vault finishes, you can gamble the total:

  • One spin of Brilliant vs Broken coins
  • Brilliant = double
  • Broken = lose everything
  • Can gamble up to four times

It’s optional, but it adds a proper risk/reward moment that fits the theme nicely.

Volatility & Behaviour

Book of Dead GO Collect behaves like a high-volatility hybrid. The Free Spins bonus can be brilliant or completely useless depending on the expanding symbol — Rich is still the king of disappointment. The Vault adds more consistency, giving you extra chances at mid-range wins even when Free Spins are cold.

Our session showed both sides: a strong 94x bonus, a useless 9x Rich bonus, and two Vault rounds that chipped in nicely. It’s swingy, but at least it fires features regularly.

Graphics & Sound

Classic Book of Dead visuals with updated animations for Staters, the GO Collect meter, and the Treasure Vault. Rich Wilde still looks like he’s posing for a travel brochure, but the new effects give the slot a fresher feel. Sound design is familiar — Egyptian ambience, dramatic bonus cues, and crisp coin sounds during the Vault.

What It Does Well

Classic Book gameplay with extra features
Treasure Vault adds mid-range potential
Treasure Gamble adds excitement
Expanding symbols still feel great
Good mix of old and new mechanics
Active base game with Staters

What It Does Badly

Rich expanding symbol still pays nothing
Free Spins can be extremely volatile
Treasure Gamble can wipe your win
Staters don’t appear in Free Spins
Vault values can be small

Who It’s For

Players who enjoy:

Classic Book of Dead gameplay
Hold N Spin bonuses
Risky gamble features
High-volatility slots
Egyptian themes
Modern twists on old classics

SlotTribe Verdict

Book of Dead GO Collect is a solid upgrade to the classic formula. The Treasure Vault adds a second bonus path, the GO Collect meter keeps the base game moving, and Free Spins still deliver those big expanding symbol moments. Our session was lively, with multiple bonuses and Vault opens, and a strong 94x hit. It’s still volatile, still capable of throwing Rich at you for a dead round, but overall it’s one of Play’n GO’s better 2026 releases.
